High A San Jose Giants topped the Inland Empire 66'ers 5-3:
Jonah Arenado 3B- 3 for 4, 3 2B. BA= .262.
Dillon Dobson 1B- 2 for 3, 2B, BB, SB(2). BA= .244.

Heath Slatton RHP- 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K. ERA= 8.73.
-Jonah Arenado is white hot!
-A reader pointed out that 6 of the 8 runs Slatton has allowed in his last 10 games came in a 1.2 inning appearance on 6/25 and questioned why the manager would allow him to take that pounding. IDK the answer to that, but in 8 appearances since, Slatton has allowed just 2 runs in 15 IP with 19 K's and 4 BB's so it did not seem to do him any permanent damage.

John Russell RHP- 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.40.
-Very impressed by Garcia's combo of hitting for average and power. Will need to back it up in full season ball next year.
-Russell has struck out 26 batters in 15 IP. He's walked 7, but 3 of those came in his first appearance.

I can't wait to see what Jason Bahr does in A ball next season.
ReplyDeleteThanks Doc, I just hate seeing kids get blasted. It can shatter a kid's confidence... This Slatton is one strong willed kid..
ReplyDeleteBaby Arenado is something else.. WOW!!!
There seem to be a few kids that are better than >recently< advertised.. Snelten, Heathcott's turnaround, Howard, Ruotolo, Rheault and Arenado, at least as far as I was know... If this Tyler Brown is getting Greyhound road miles, I think he has accrued enough for a trip to at least Rialto.... Thanks for all the info you give out for dummies like me....!
