  1. How is the decision to move Reynolds up made? Or not made?
Is age an important factor -- he's slightly young at A+?
Is there a fear of "too much too soon" although he has more than 450 plate appearances for SJ?
Would promoting Reynolds be "demoralizing" for Duggar? Does that mean anything?
Is there any advantage to having some AA experience? It seems that moving him to A- last year was good for him -- it jumped him to A+ this year. If he were to adjust to AA as he has to his 3 levels in less than 2 years might get him to Sacramento sooner.
As badly as OFers are needed on the Giants (NOW), maybe a little push would be good.
    If it doesn't backfire.

    1. The Giants, like all organizations, require their minor league coaches and managers to send evaluations of their players to the home office on a daily basis. Prospects are usually promoted when the braintrust thinks they can handle the next level, although organizational needs come into play.

As for Reynolds, he has a shiny BA, but it comes with very little power in a league that tends to bring out power. The Giants may want him to work on better pitch selection and on driving the ball more before they promote him to a much more difficult hitting environment.

The other thing to keep in mind is while Reynolds has been improving in San Jose, players who started the season in AA have also been improving. So just because he may be ready for AA at the beginning of next year, doesn't mean he wouldn't get buried now even though there is only about 3 weeks left in the season.

  2. Derek Law looks like what was trashing at the beginning of the year has been solved.

  3. Concerning the Woods boys, has Stetson been hampered by injuries? He didn't seem to show much during 3 years in the AZL.
Although they're nominally the same age, Stetson was drafted and signed out of high school (2014) and had pro coaching for 3 years with the Giants.
Stephen was drafted in 2013 but went to college (in NY) then signed 3 years later (in a later round) and made it out of AZ to S-K after 10 games.
Steven and Stetson were together in the AZL for a short time last year. Steven was advanced but maybe Stetson was injured.
Which has the higher ceiling? Do either look like major league starters-to-be at this point? Both are only starting this year.
Will either appear on your next Top 50?

    1. Yeah, Stetson Woods pretty much did nothing for the last 2 yeas in the AZL barely pitching at all and getting hammered when he did. All of a sudden he shows up as the opening day pitcher for SK and pitches great. It would be fun to know what was going on the last 2 years, but we may never know.
