It seems that our man, Tyler Beede, has become a bit of a polarizing figure among nationally known prospect analysts.  In his recent review of his pre-season Giants Top 20 prospects, John Sickels described Beede as ".....enigmatic, erratic from start to start with both stuff and command."

Keith Law is generally not a fan of the Giants front office or their prospects but he came to Beede's defense in his most recent Klawchat:  "It's also a tough place to pitch(the PCL in general, less specifically Sacramento).  He had 5 starts where he gave up 5 or more earned runs; 4 came in severe hitter's parks, one at home.  I'm really only concerned/surprised that he hasn't missed more bats."

1 comment:

  1. Beede: As if he's the first pitcher to ever get roughed up in the PCL... So while I'd love better results, the fact is that we have club that emphasizes pitching-to-contact. And that's just going to have it's issues in some places in the PCL as sinkers and other movement pitches don't move well in those hot, dry and (frequently) higher elevation parks and the balls tend to, because of the dry air, have a higher coefficient of rebound causing them to fly even further. (That's why the Rockies now keep all their balls in a pre-game humidifier.)

Anyway, if he's still there in 2019, I'll be thinking he's done. Like I thought Stratton was done (and am not sure if he's for real or not right now).
