Game Wrap 6/27/2016: A's 8 Giants 3

Jeff Samardzija allowed just 1 run on 2 hits in 5 IP, but he also allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in his other inning of work including a 3-run backbreaker dinger to Marcus Semien.  Meanwhile the A's got a terrific performance from a swashbuckling rookie pitcher named Daniel Mengdon, handlebar mustache and all.  Gotta say, his swagger reminds me a bit of a guy named John "The Count" Montefusco!  Key Lines:

Ramiro Pena- 2 for 4.  BA= .414.  Pena filled in for Brandon Crawford who got a day off to nurse some aches and bruises.  Small sample size mirage here, but Pena is acting like he wants to stick around awhile.  He was involved in 2 DP's on defense to boot.

Jeff Samardzija- 6 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 3.91.  Earl Weaver said winning baseball is great pitching and 3-run HR's.  I think he meant 3-run HR's by HIS team!  Shark is struggling with his offspeed pitches.  I'm not quite sure what he meant to throw Semien in that situation, but he hung it up there like a batting practice pitch and Semien went yard.  You knew this game was over right there.

The Loss cut the Giants lead over the Dodgers in the NL West to 7 games as the Da Bums salvaged a game out of their 4 game series in Pittsburgh on getaway day.

Albert Suarez tries to get the Giants back on the winning side of the ledger tomorrow facing Kendall Graveman.
