Game Wrap 6/14/2016: Giants 3 Brewers 2

Madison Bumgarner was dominant on the mound and at the plate while the Giants offense scratched out 3 runs to edge out the Brewers.  Key Lines:

Joe Panik- 2 for 5, SB(4).  BA= .259.  Panik has become an instigator for the offense with a .360 BA over his last 7 games.

Buster Posey- 4 for 5, SB(3).  BA= .270.  No lost bats or winces in this game.  Buster looked great at the plate spraying line drives around the ballpark.  12'th 4-hit game of his career.  This is how he has often started his long hot streaks, so let's hope for that.

Madison Bumgarner- 1 for 2, 2 BB.  BA= .167.  The Brewers pitchers clearly feared the toonder in Bumgarner's bat which led Will Smith to throw 2 scuds which gave the Giants their winning run.

Madison Bumgarner- 8 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 1.91.  It's a testament to Bumgarner's greatness that this felt like an off night for him.  In fact, per Covechatter's twitter feed, his ERA went up for the first time since sometime in April!

Santiago Casilla- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, Save(14).  ERA= 2.67.  Casilla was terrific in this one.  He showed some seroiou stones in a big time battle with Ryan Braun for the final out, finally freezing him with a backdoor shuto.  Grab some pine, Meat!

The Win maintained the Giants 6 game lead on the Dodgers in the NL West after the Bad Guys topped the D'Backs 7-4.

Johnny Cueto goes for a series sweep this afternoon facing Jimmy Nelson at AT&T Park.

Matt Cain apparently tweaked his hammy again on Monday and was sent back to the DL.  Chris Stratton did not have time to unpack in Sacramento before turning around to rejoin the Giants to take Cainer's spot.  I liked what little we saw of Stratton in his first MLB stint.  Hope we get to see more of him this time around, although hoping to see your long reliever kind of means you are hoping a SP falters early in a game, so maybe not.

Brandon Belt took a pitch off his left lateral ankle and fell to the ground in severe pain.  Ouch!  He stayed in to run the bases but came out later.  X-rays are reportedly negative, but I'll guess he misses today's game.  Hopefully he's ready by Friday night in Tampa FL.
