Hey team! I've had a feeling the websites I have linked over on the left are getting a bit, ahem, stale(no, not you, OGC!). I'm just wondering if readers have favorite sites that I don't know about. Only restrictions are they have to be baseball oriented and not require paid memberships.
Please post the names and/or links to your favorite baseball oriented websites below. I will check them out and maybe link them over on the left.
Thanks in advance, everybody!

I'm a fan of High Heat Stats, especially a writer named John Autin, who does some entertaining game summaries during the season.
ReplyDeleteTheir angle is to give some historical context to current baseball events.

This one looks pretty good. I'll give it a try.
DeleteYou got me thinking, so I went through my list of links and dropped the ones that no longer are around and/or do not limk back to me.
ReplyDeleteI like First Inning and Statcorner for minor league stats, particularly the former for splits (not all, monthly and H/R) and the latter for advanced saber metrics along with regular stats.
The Baseball Cube is good for both minor's stats but also college stats, which I find nice when researching draftees.
I would also suggest Hank Schulman's The Splash for his newspaper, as a complement to Baggarly's coverage for CSN Bay Area. Giants fans are lucky to have both Andy and Hank as our Giants reporters, they find out a lot of good inside info plus cover a lot of interesting things, Andy broke news that Zito signing was not Sabean's doing and the video training system the Giants used that helped Belt, Hank has had his share of scoops, but I'm blanking right now on them. Andy is a clear #1, but Hank is a strong #2, 1B if you will.
Yeah, OGC, nice call on The Cube. That's definitely the place I go to get College Stats.
DeleteBy popular demand: The Baseball Cube!
DeleteAlso (and I doubt this makes your link roll), when I want to get some enemy intel, I go to "Mike Socia's Tragic Illness."
ReplyDeleteMike Petriello is pretty decent blogger. And I'll scroll through the posters to get a feel for reactions to Dodger moves and play.

I've always loved the name Mike Scioscia's Tragic Illness for a blog name.
DeleteOh, I thought this was up there, but Baseball Reference is an outstanding resource.

And also Cot's Contracts, for all things payroll related. Individual player contracts. Team payroll commitments for every year. GM & Manager contracts. Etc.

Yeah, I use both of those sites in my research from time to time. Good calls.
