  1. i think hayden birdsong is ready for sacramento. the bigger question is might he be a trade chip as we get closer to the deadline. with a surplus of arms, who gets moved as we get near the trade deadline.

    1. BIRDSONG and BERTRAND have been lights out for Richmond (Ragsdale pretty good also)........The Giants indeed need a Good YOUNG power bat and that is worth giving pitching up for (a 1 year rental is another story)..But you have to be carefull, pitching assets disappear quickly with injuries and inconsistencies....Winn and Roup are injured now...Teng has lost all confidence..Black, Seymour and Whisenhunt up and down..The nature of the beast and you don't want to give up a Prize.

  3. Are there really surplus arms? And which are they – the proven, the questions, or the future?

  4. Doc, are you worried at all that there is no crop of re-enforcements beyond this current bunch of players in the majors. Let's say 2 of Luciano, Matos, and Ramos stick. Are there enough reinforcements over the next 1-3 seasons from the Minor Leagues that could potentially propel the Giants into a perennial contender?

Or are we just hoping over the next 1-3 seasons we get 3rd wild card spots every season. I always expected the Zaidi Admin to go toe to toe with the Dodgers but I just don't see that even being a remote possibility in the near to long term.

    1. Things get pretty thin for this season if there are more injuries or performance implosions. Over the next 1-3 years I think there is adequate talent in the system with hope for more.

  5. Could "the Zaidi Admin go toe to toe with the Dodgers"?
LA is a money machine with resources and payroll and local population far exceeding SF, and they are more willing to spend "whatever it takes."
The Giants have tried to sign the top players from Stanton to Harper to Judge to Ohtani (and Yamamoto) to Lester and, to some degree, Nimmo, Suzuki, and Senga.
The Giants have been unable to draft and develop that type
FA sluggers shun Oracle, except the few that don't work out well.
Pitchers like Oracle if they need to re-establish their creds, but established pitchers want to win and that requires an above average offense which, other than the 2021 anomaly, has not been present for quite a few years.
Oracle is a wonderful place to visit, if you don't mind being cold. Mostly.
