Game Wrap 6/8/2019: Dodgers 7 Giants 2

The Dodgers broke open a close game with four runs off Dereck Rodriguez and Mark Melancon in the 8'th inning.  Key Lines:

Aramis Garcia C- 1 for 4, HR(2).  BA= .188.  Aramis Garcia's bat does not often make contact with the ball but when it does, toonder!  6 HR's in 82 MLB PA's= 44/600.  That comes with 31 K's.

Donovan Solano 2B/SS- 2 for 4.  BA= .242.  Solano was the only player in the lineup to get two hits and the only one to get a hit with RISP(out of 11 RISP chances).

Jeff Samardzija RHP- 5.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 3.72.  Shark took a 2-2 tie into the 6'th inning.  A one out double to Kyle Garlick followed by an HBP brought a pitching change.  Derek Holland walked Max Muncy and was immediately replaced by Trevor Gott who allowed a SF to Justin Turner.  That was the game-winning RBI although the Dodgers lengthened the lead considerably in the 8'th off the aforementioned DRod and Melancon.

Madison Bumgarner goes for the series win today facing RHP Walker Buehler.

  1. Shark's hit batter was unusual. After being called a ball, Pederson told the umpire he had been hit and immediately was sent to 1st base. The replay was inconclusive -- the commentators "inferred" the direction changed slightly as it passed Pederson's thigh because Garcia didn't catch the ball in the center of the pocket!
Speaking of the commentators, FOX showed brain-deadedness selecting A. J. Pierzynski to provide color for a Giants game.
He did say that Barry Bonds was the best player he ever saw then they proceeded with actually exalting Barry.
Bochy added to the brain dead atmosphere bringing in Holland to 5-pitch walk Muncy and move a runner to third with 1 out. The ensuing sac fly off Gott put the game in the Doogers hands.
It was a pathetic offensive performance with Shark and every Giant position player except Belt leaving runners on base!
The games was theirs to win and they literally wiffed.

  2. Bases loaded, nobody out, and walking away with nothing, in a tie game, was where the Giants really lost it.
