I see the BoSox have DFA's Christian Arroyo, who's having a lousy year. I remember well the 2013 draft when the Giants took him the 1st at #25.
ReplyDeleteBecause I have a local bias I was looking at two other guys, a HS LHP Matt Krook from St. Ignatius in the City, who was said to be a tough sign and proved to be for the Marlins, who took him at #35, after which he went to Oregon and his arm fell off. Giants took him in the 4th Rnd in 2016, and he only got a cup of coffee this year from the Yankees. Looks like he has big stuff but never conquered his control problem.
The other guy was that big tall OF from Fresno St., whom the Yanks took half a dozen picks after Arroyo. My wife is from Fresno so I count them as very local. Oh, what might have been.

Stephen Strasburg was #1 pick and has the 2nd highest bWAR from the 1st round.
