Down on the Farm: 8/10/2023

Tyler Fitzgerald CF- 1 for 4, HR(14).  BA= .273.

Juan Sanchez LHP- 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.42.

Kyle Harrison looks like he's almost ready but the Giants need hitting more than pitching.  Juan Sanchez also putting up intriguing numbers this season.

AA:  Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Bowie Baysox 5-1.

John Bertrand LHP- 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 3.52.

Anyelo Gonzalez CF- 2 for 4.  BA= .315.
Keiberg Camacaro SS- 2 for 4, 2 2B.  BA= .215.

Rengel pitches just 1 inning after 10 no-hit innings over 2 games.  Hopefully just limiting innings for the 17 yo and not an injury.  Anyelo Gonzalez is listed as a C but played CF in this game.  Camacaro is just 16 yo.

ACL:

Estanlin Cassiani CF- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .291.
Javier Francisco 1B- 3 for 4, 2 2B.  BA= .275.

  1. With 611 career professional games, Fitzgerald makes his CF debut this year in his 10 start there, having 2 assists and no errors among his 25 chances – that's a SS's arm out there.
With 60 professional SBs and 8 CS, he has quickness, too.
Giants are trying to find a place for him.

  2. Pollock injury after 6 PAs might be a break for – the Giants!
But will Ramos @ 23 yo (almost 24) really get another chance? And, can he produce?
SF still has Slater and Matos as RH bats in the OF mix – will they play 3, or is Ramos destined to be PH off the bench?
Which will do precious little for him or the team.
With YtY out, the Giants don't even have an OFer with a bWAR above 0.6 or a dWAR above 000.
This anemic offensive team is going to live or die with their pitching.
    PLAY HIM!

    1. I would like to see Heliot Ramos get an extended look but it's hard when the team is trying to compete for a postseason spot.

  3. Doc I remember you saying that one of the keys to the season is Conforto and Haniger not missing many games. They've hung in to their credit and should get Haniger back in September. He might be the big offense boost they need.

    1. After a slow start for both, Conforto and Haniger looked like they were going to be the middle-of-the-order bats the Giants needed for the rest of the season. Then they both got hurt. Conforto never really found traction after he came back and Haniger is missing several months for the umpteenth time in his career. It would be nice if they could both get it together for a big stretch run.

  4. Tonight's Giants game is on AppleTV.
You have to buy a subscription.
Is watching the game worth $7?
Depends, can SF guarantee a win?
    Stay tuned...
