Game Wrap 8/6/2016: Giants 7 Nationals 1

What a difference a day makes!  The Giants were coming off on of their most moribund, lifeless performances of the season.  Their SP, well, let's just day he's had his ups and downs, was up against one of the very best pitchers in all of baseball.  Like I always say, there's a reason why they play the games.  The Giants came out and played as close to a flawless game as they have all season and routed the Nationals.  Key Lines:

Eduardo Nunez- 4 for 5, 2B, 2 3B.  BA= .293.  Giants finally get to see what Bobby Evans was willing to trade Adalberto Mejia and ship Matt Duffy out for.  What a game!

Brandon Belt- 3 for 5, 2 2B, HR(13).  BA= .287.  Looks like Belt is back.  He's hitting .333 over his last 7 games and .288 over his last 15.  Huge when you can put Nunez and Belt's games B2B in the lineup.

Buster Posey- 2 for 3, BB, SF.  BA= .291.  Posey just keeps doing his thing which is not try to do too much.

Brandon Crawford- 2 for 3, BB, SF.  BA= .268.  Posey and Crawford had identical lines B2B in the lineup which gave the Giants tremendous production from the #2, 3, 4 and 5 holes in the lineup.

Matt Cain- 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 5.16.  Cain now has a 10 inning scoreless streak going over his last 2 starts.  I bet the Giants would be thrilled if he gave them 5 scoreless innings every start the rest of the way.

Bullpen- 4 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.   Strickland, Romo and Kontos had scoreless IP,  Will Smith retired both batters he faced to start the 8'th inning.  Jake Peavy gave up all 3 of the hits and the run without recording an out.  The adjustment to the pen has to be rough for him.

The Dodgers and Ross Stripling blanked the BoSox 3-0, so the Giants remain 2 games ahead of the Bad Guys in the NL West.

Madison Bumgarner tries for a series win tomorrow facing Tanner Roark.  Nationals Park has not been kind to Bummy in the past.
