Game Wrap 8/5/2016: Nationals 5 Giants 1

The Giants fell behind early and the Nationals coasted to the win against a very flat looking Giants team.  Key Lines:

Angel Pagan- 1 for 4, HR(8).  BA= .282.  Pagan has an outside shot at topping his season HR high mark of 12.

Jeff Samardzija-  7 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 4.40.  Samardzija showed up with a new delivery and a curveball which he threw 24 times in the game.  Shark has toned down the torque on his torso in hopes of staying closed longer.  He also is dipping his front shoulder with a tighter chin tuck which looks similar to Santiago Casilla's delivery.  In this game, can't defend the 2 dingers but the Nationals were the beneficiaries of some serious BABIP luck in the first two innings when they built a 3-0 lead.  On the other hand, Samardzija was also the beneficiary of a lot of loud outs.

The Dodgers were crushed by the Red Sox 9-0 so the Giants maintain their 2 game lead in the NL West.

It doesn't get any easier tomorrow as Matt Cain faces Stephen Strasburg.
