Down on the Farm: 04-29-2010

AAA Fresno Grizzlies edged the Sacramento River Cats 5-4:

Ryan Rohlinger- 2 for 4, HR(1). BA= .361.
Joe Borchard- 2 for 4, HR(4). BA= .339.
Brett Pill- 2 for 3, HBP, SB(2). BA= .273.
Joe Martinez- 5.1 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 5 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 3.60.
Denny Bautista- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, Save(4). ERA= 1.74.

5 walks in 5+ IP, is very uncharacteristic of Joe Martinez who has always had pretty good control in the minors. Mike McBryde also had 1 hits. Brock Bond reached base twice with a hit and a walk.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels idle.

High A San Jose Giants cracked the Modesto Nuts 5-1:

Francisco Peguero- 2 for 4, SB(12). BA= .263.
Brandon Belt- 2 for 2, 2B, 2 BB. BA= .433
Johnny Monell- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .211.
Charlie Culberson- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .172.
Craig Westcott- 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 0.00.

Belt's OBP is now over .500! This is getting ridiculous! Not sure why Westcott came out after 4 IP. Maybe his pitch count was getting up there?

Low A Hagerstown Suns topped the Augusta Greenjackets 6-4:

Dan Cook- 1 for 4, HR(1). BA= .268.
Luke Anders- 1 for 4, HR(4). BA= .280.
Nick Liles- 2 for 3. BA= .333.
Devan Kline- 5 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.35.

I believe this is Kline's first pro start. Was signed as an undrafted FA last summer.

  1. Great updates, Doc, thanks a lot!!

Seeing as Kline is pitching in Augusta, any relation to their pitching coach?

Seeing the Frandsen news today reminded me that we have not heard who we ended up getting in that deal. Any word?

  2. I wondered the same thing. Just googled him. Parents are Allen and Tammy Kline. Dad was once drafted by the Detroit Tigers, but apparently never played pro ball.

  3. Brett Pill is slowly climbing back into respectable offensive territory.

  4. Craig Westcott has had like 4 starts, each around 4-5 innings so it must be pitch count, right? The best thing is that he hasn't given up a single run in 18 innings overt those starts...Not bad at all...Can't remember wwhat type of pitcher he is--finesse, power, ets....

Also, anybody know where Cameron Lamb ended up?

  5. Westcott is a big kid, listed at 6'4", 225 lbs. He had 63 K's in 43.1 IP, last season, so he fits the profile of a power pitcher.

The azgiants.com guy has posted several pictures of Cam Lamb from Extended Spring Training, so look for him in Salem-Keizer this summer.
