"When the Giants Come to Town..." is my blog intended to chronicle my thoughts on San Francisco Giants baseball. My special interest is in prospects and the farm system, but of course, will comment on all aspects of the San Francisco Giants. I will also comment on baseball in general, particularly from a fantasy baseball perspective. I hope you will find the site informative, and invite you to join in the discussion.
You got me hooked, I hope it happens!
ReplyDeleteHi Doc,
ReplyDeleteI know you usually do a "Down on the Farm" segment and I don't want to steal your thunder, but I happened to be checking league stats just now and noticed Tommy Joseph had another good game last night, including a homer. He is now tied for 2nd in the Sally League in RBI behind a 24yr old and a 22yr old. He is tied with Wilmer Flores, an equally precocious 18yr old, who is a highly rated prospect in the Mets system. It should be noted that Flores has already had a couple of years in minor league ball, unlike T Joe who is getting his first taste of pro ball now. T Joe is also among the league leaders in HR and has a very respectable OBP. I don't know how he is doing defensively, but if the Giants are serious about developing him as a hitter, a move to first base and to San Jose could be a possibility later this season.
John Sickels of Minor League Baseball just wrote some good stuff about Wilson, basically what has been reported here, plus a video link: http://www.minorleagueball.com/2010/4/30/1452824/interesting-high-school-hitters
