AAA DH Game 1 Fresno Grizzlies edged the Reno Aces 5-4 in 10 innings:
Ryan Rohlinger- 2 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .342.
Buster Posey- 3 for 3, 2B, BB, SF. BA= .382.
Mike McBryde- 2 for 2, 2 2B. BA= .233.
Joe Martinez- 4.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 3.07.
Osiris Matos, Alex Hinshaw- 2 IP, 0 R each.
Steve Edelfsen- 1 IP, 0 R.
Rohlinger is playing SS here. With the Giants offense sputtering, you have to wonder how much longer Posey is going to stay down.
AAA DH Game 2 Fresno Grizzlies shut out the Aces 5-0 in 7 innings:
Joe Borchard- 2 for 3, 2B. BA= .333.
Brett Pill- 2 for 3, 2B. BA= .250.
Mike McBryde- 1 for 3, 2B. BA= .242.
Matt Yourkin- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 1.80.
Henry Sosa-3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K. ERA= 1.93.
Yourkin is an older LHP with intriguing size who pitched very well at AA last year. I wish they would make Sosa a starter again!
AA Richmond idle.
High A Bakersfield Blaze edged the Little Giants 2-1:
Ehire Adrianza- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .234.
Eric Surkamp- 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 9 K's. ERA= 1.59. Surkamp obviously has swing and miss stuff.
Low A Savannah Sand Gnats swarmed the Augusta Greenjackets 16-4:
Luke Anders- 2 for 3, 2B, BB. BA= .320.
Chris Dominguez- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .267.
Brian Salsbury- 4.1 IP, 9 H, 7 R, 3 BB, 2 K's.
Anders has been solid so far. Good to see Dominguez getting some non-HR hits. The relievers following Salsbury didn't far any better. Must have just been the Sand Gnats' night to hit.

Yeah, Posey is starting to get hot, but the two positions he plays are hitting well, they are not the problems. If he could play CF or SS, then that could be another matter.
ReplyDeleteSosa I wouldn't mind as a starter too but the Giants are set at starters in the majors to at least 2012 now (once Bumgarner is promoted) and, as you noted before, they still need relievers. Still, given his recurring arm problems, I see making him a reliever to be the better move, much like I think the Twins should have put Liriano into the bullpen, his body is going to fail him again this year, it's a ticking time bomb.
