The Giants celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the opening of PacBell/AT&T Park(it had another name in between, but I don't remember it) with an all-afternoon rain delay, and finally a win over the Atlanta Braves 6-3. The win won the series 2-1 and kept the Giants in sole possession of first place in the NL West. The win also featured the Giants winning formula of tight pitching and timely hitting, this time from the familiar names of Tim Lincecum and Pablo Sandoval. Key lines:
Pablo Sandoval- 3 for 4, 3B, HR(1). Good to see Pablo's bat come alive. Maybe his new contact lenses are the answer to his vision woes? He absolutely scorched two balls, a triple up, well, Triples Alley, and a HR OVER Triples Alley!
Aubrey Huff- 1 for 3, BB. Drove Pablo in from 3B with 2 outs for the first Giants run of the game. The only Giant other than Panda to get on base twice.
Tim Lincecum- 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 10 K's. Lincecum really settled down after giving up a first inning HR to Brian McCann. Timmy's record after two starts is 2-0, 1.29, 14 IP, 1 BB, 17 K's. Yeah, I'd say that's a Cy Young pace! He may have competition from Roy Halladay this year, but if you are the defending champ, you have to lose it, right?
Around the League:
Arizona used a 13 run 4th inning to beat the Pirates and stay one game off the Giants pace in the NL West. The Choking Dogs blew another late inning lead to fall to 2-4 while Colorado topped San Diego 4-2 to even their record at 3-3 while San Diego is in the cellar with the Dogs at 2-4.

It was called SBC Park, at one point. I'll always think of it as Pac Bell Park though, that just rolls off the tongue so well.
ReplyDeleteGreat win tonight, and without our (temporary) leading hitter!
Thanks for the reminder. Yeah, it's really too bad it couldn't have stayed Pac Bell Park. That had a real ring to it.
