This was the 3'rd heartbreak loss in a row for the Giants and this one may have hurt the worst. That's because they got not just a good pitching performance, but a great one from Jonathan Sanchez and it was wasted. 1 hit! That's all the Padres could muster against Durty, but that one hit resulted in a run and that was enough against the Giants embarrassing offense. Really just one key line for the night:
Jonathan Sanchez- 7 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 10 K's. ERA= 1.86. Actually, like Zito, if Sanchez can be this good for the rest of the season, the Giants will be OK, but they've gotta score some runs!!
The Giants have to do better job of taking advantage of scoring opportunities. Nate Schierholtz had a leadoff triple go to waste and they had runners at the corners with 1 out in the 9'th and couldn't capitalize.
With Wellemeyer going tomorrow, it doesn't look good for avoiding a sweep. The Padres and Giants are now tied at the top of the division at 8-6.
Around the League:
Colorado is in 3'rd place at 7-7 after a 10-4 win over the Nationals.
Chad Billingsley got shelled in Cincinnati and the Dodgers went on to lose 11-9 to drop to 6-7. Arizona won 9-7 over the Cards but are in last place at 6-8.

I was watching the game on and off on TV. Renteria appeared the most clueless, pulling outside pitches and all. Velez did his job, getting on base the first two atbats
