Game Wrap 5/4/2019: Reds 9 Giants 2

The Giants SP got blown out for the second straight game.  Unfortunately there was no comeback tonight.  Key Lines:

Kevin Pillar CF- 1 for 4, SB(4).  BA= .207.  Add in a spectacular catch against the CF wall(can't really describe it.  Definitely go look up the video if you haven't seen it.  No wonder the fans in Toronto love him!

Steven Duggar RF- 2 for 2, BB.  BA= .269.  Duggar is hitting .435 over his last 7 games and .304 over his last 15.  He has reached base 9 times in 12 PA's over his last 3 games.

Dereck Rodriguez RHP- 5 IP, 8 H, 8 R, 4 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 5.75.  12 ER in 8 IP over last 2 Starts.  Not good!

Pat Venditte LHP/RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 4.50.  Venditte had a 2.40 ERA over 15 IP in AAA.  I suppose that gives him a ticket to try to make his switch-pitching finally stick.

The Loss drops the Giants 7 games behind the NL West leading Dodgers and 5.5 games off the Wild Card pace.

Jeff Samardzija tries to win the series tomorrow afternoon, but draws a tough customer in RHP Luis Castillo.

  1. Win by one
    Lose by lots
Shark must keep the ball IN the park AND get the 3rd OUT! 8 of 9 Cincy runs and all 5 HRs came with 2 outs!

  2. Farhan did move on from another of his choices: good for him. Parra was an 4th or 5th OFer.
Pillar's catch yesterday should keep him as a 4th but Giants need base runners and timely hits: has Pillar hitorically provided that?
Would it have been nice to see Mac play in Cincinnati? Does a Bear do his Bizness in the Woods? He's 2-4 with a double in Great Amer BP.

  3. I think Duggar has proven that he should be leading off. Can they please move him there for today's game?
