We seem to be down to a 5-4 loss feeling like a Win because, well, some good things did happen in the game. Key Lines:
Evan Longoria 3B- 1 for 4, HR(6). BA= .228. Longo's Long Ball in the bottom of the first inning at least got the Giants on the board. It was something like only the second or third time they have scored in the first inning this season. Longo is also slashing .296/.387/.630 with 3 HR's over his last 7 games.
Steven Duggar RF- 3 for 4, 2B. BA= .266. The 3-run 4'th inning was all about Steven Duggar has he tripled in 2 runs then scored on Joe Panik's Sac Fly. The bad is he later ran the Giants out of a possible rally when he was thrown out stealing at 3B on a call that went to replay. Duggar is hitting .308 over his last 7 games and .298 over his last 15. If the season continues going south, establishing Duggar as a member of the next core is a big key to future.
Jeff Samardzija RHP- 4 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 5 K's. Once again, Shark did not come ready to pitch in the first inning but settled down to pitch 3 more shutout innings before being lifted for a PH as the Giants tried to add on in the 3-run 4'th. Would an Opener help avoid these first inning disasters?

Duggar's bat plays in CF, don't think he is a answer at corner OF (which makes the Pillar trade sorta confusing)
ReplyDeletewith rodriguez being optioned and holland moving to the pen, i think we will see an opener on wednesday.
