What started out looking like a blowout loss turned into a disappointing loss as the Giants fought back from a 10-1 deficit to actually take an 11-10 lead only to lose it on an unearned run in the top of the 9'th and then then lose the game in the 12'th inning. Barry Zito takes the loss filling in for a shorthanded Giants bullpen. I think the Giants will take this game as positive for the big comeback and the continued offensive outburst. Key lines:
Andres Torres- 2 for 7, 2B. BA= .287. This guy has a Key Line in almost every game! Just amazing!
Pablo Sandoval- 4 for 6, SB(3). BA= .276. Panda is 10 for 16 in his last 3 games. Batting .326 over his last 10.
Juan Uribe- 3 for 6, HR(17). BA= .254. 5 for 10 with 2 HR's in his last 2 games.
Madison Bumgarner- 2.2 IP, 7 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 3.95. The old ERA takes a beating today. Subpar outing + hitter friendly weather= disastrous line.
Sergio Romo- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.26.
Brian Wilson- 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K. ERA= 1.94. The run may have been unearned, but Wilson has had better lines, even so. Gotta give credit for going 2 for the team though.
Javier Lopez- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K's ERA= 2.34. Lopez has been sensational since the trade. Is there room on the team for him next year?
With the loss, the Giants drop to 6.5 games behind the NL West leading San Diego Padres who pounded the D'Backs 9-3. They remained tied with the Phillies, who lost to the Astros 3-2, for the Wild Card playoff spot, and 1 game ahead of the Cardinals who lost to the Pirates 5-2.
The Giants have a much needed day off tomorrow before taking on the D'Backs at home starting Friday 8/27.
