The Giants and Cardinals both got 13 hits in this game. The Giants cashed in more of theirs as Madison Bumgarner once again pitched a tough 7 innings and came away with the W. Key lines:
Buster Posey- 2 for 5, 2 2B(18). BA= .342. Buster has hit 4 doubles in his last 2 games.
Aubrey Huff- 2 for 3, HR(21), 2 BB. BA= .295. I love watching Huff Daddy when he knows he's hit one out.
Pablo Sandoval- 2 for 5, 2B, HR(10). BA= .268. Hitting .308 with 4 dingers in his last 10 games.
Mike Fontenot- 2 for 4. BB. BA= .286. Fontenot played SS with Uribe's foot hurting.
Freddy Sanchez- 2 for 5. BA= .263. 2 hits each from the 6, 7 and 8 spots in the lineup.
Madison Bumgarner- 7 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 3.20. This kid is impressing more and more. He was hitting 93 on the gun with the heater and keeping the Cardinal batters off balance with his secondary stuff. No matter how this season ends up, how great is it that the Giants have brought two players like Buster and MadBum to the majors in one season?
Brian Wilson- 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, Save(35). BA= 2.01. Wilson had to make it a bit interesting with 2 outs, but I was never too worried. He had this one under control all the way!
The Padres finally lost, 10-6 to the BrewCrew, allowing the Giants to get to 5 games behind in the NL West. In the Wild Card race, the Phillies topped the Nats 1-0 to stay 1 game ahead of the Giants while the Cards slipped to 3 games behind the Phillies and 2 games behind the Giants.
Classic matchup tomorrow night with Tim Lincecum facing Chris Carpenter. Timmy will have to be the Timmy of old to make a game out of this one though.
