Down on the Farm: 6/21/2018

AAA  El Paso Chihuahuas mauled the Sacramento River Cats 10-1:

Jeff Samardzija RHP- 4 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 2.57.
Tyler Beede RHP- 0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 7.01.
Tyler Rogers RHP- 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 2.02.
Ray Black RHP- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 4.02.
Manny Parra LHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 3.29.

Same old issues here.  Shark has a terrific K/BB, but give up 2 runs on a homer, single, double sequence in the 2'nd inning.  Tyler Beede's runs were unearned but he's obviously still not right.

Jose Layer performed well in limited playing time over 2 seasons in the AZL.  He looks to be the regular CF for S-K this season.  Gregory Santos is just 18 yrs old but already has 2 DSL seasons under his belt so skips the AZL.  Looks like he is ready for the challenge.

  1. Is Shark another blown contract?
The high price to try to compete: Samardzija, Melancon, Longoria. How many $$/WAR point do they add up to?

    1. I don't think the level is the problem here. He needs to either work it out in Sacramento or go to camp in Arizona away from the spotlight and work on whatever is wrong, head, mechanics or physical issues.
