All I can do is look at Tyler Beede's line and sigh.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels quieted the Trenton Thunder 5-1:

  1. All I can do is look at Ray Black's line and ... drool!

  2. If Hanson plays everyday, maybe the Giants won't need a pinch hitter!

  3. Beede needs a rest or something.

And what is Ray Black doing in AAA still? With Blach taking over long relief, I'd gladly see whether Black can improve over Johnson's mop-up duty, or maybe the G's bullpen is just too strong right now and you don't mess with a good thing if it ain't broke..?

Wow, that's a situation I don't think we predicted when the season started..!! Well done Bobby Evans!!!

    1. black won't be up until september, barring injuires. the pen is pretty much set now.

    2. You think Holland and Gearrin will survive their marginal performance? Right now there are 12 pitchers, so there's sort of room for 1 more, plus 1 or 2 will be gone when Samardzija and Cueto are back.
Holland has been bad but kind of unlucky, Gearrin is just bad.

    3. Maybe Black’s promotion to AAA this year, for the first time, suggests that he may be “freed” to San Francisco. He pitched 10 innings for Richmond in 2018, with one bad outing, and ten for Sacramento, with two successive bad outings. Otherwise he has been pretty untouchable, and in fact gave up more than one hit only once in any of those twenty innings. His K rate has been, of course, spectacular, and his BB rate acceptable—20 IP, 40 K, 9 BB.

  4. time to pull the plug on beede being a starter, he should pitch out of the pen for the rest of the year. this may be his only way to earn a september call up at this point.
