The Giants came this close to wasting a gem of a pitching effort by Johnny Cueto, but put 2 runs on the board in extra innings to salvage the W. Key Lines:
Matt Duffy- 2 for 5, 2B, BB. BA= .268. Duffman is 7 for 14 in the first 3 games of this series. He also made a great running catch of a CarGo bloop down the line that looked like it was going for extra bases.
Brandon Belt- 1 for 4, 3B, BB. BA= .317. Belt hits his 3'rd triple of the season and the Giants 14'th.
Johnny Cueto- 8.1 IP, 8 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO= 11/3. ERA= 3.02. Mike Krukow: "I want to start my career over and be Johnny Cueto. He just looks like he is having so much fun out there."…..or something to that effect. This was a tense pitching duel, especially as the game went into the later innings and Cueto looked like he was having fun all the way into the 9'th inning. You could sense a bit of tension as he watched Santiago Casilla get the last 2 outs in the 9'th from the dugout, but even then, he was smiling at some of Casilla's moves out on the mound, such as a very strange looking step-off to bluff a runner back at 2B who clearly had no intention of running. Anyway….love Johnny Cueto!

The Win keeps the Giants 1 game ahead of the Dodgers in the NL West while the Rockies slip into 3'rd place, 2 games off the pace. The D'Backs beat ATL 4-2 to remain 3 games behind but they moved past the Padres into 4'th place. Speaking of the Padres, Bartolo Colon hit the first HR of his career to lead the Mets over the Pathetic Ones 6-3.

What a big defensive play Panik made in the 13th inning feeding Crawford his hook shot to get the force out! I watched Grey's previous start against the Pads and wondered how he has a 7 era. He has great stuff.
