Down on the Farm: 5/12/2016

AAA  Reno Aces downed the Sacramento River Cats 8-2:

Joan Gregorio RHP- 5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 5.40.

A bit of a mixed bag for Gregorio's AAA debut, but I read on Covechatter than he had 9 swing-through strikes.

AA  Altoona Curve edged out the Richmond Flying Squirrels 3-2:

Austin Slater CF- 1 for 3, BB, SB(3).  BA= .284.
Andrew Suarez LHP- 7 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 3.86.
Tyler Rogers RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB,1 K.  ERA= 0.00.

Suarez throws a QS in his AA debut.  Rogers has quietly not allowed a run in 15.2 IP over 16 appearances.  His GO/AO= 3.50!

High A  San Jose Giants extinguished the Bakersfield Blaze 6-0:

Ronnie Jebavy CF- 2 for 5, 2B, SB(2).  BA= .219.
CJ Hinojosa SS- 2 for 4, 2B, 3B, BB.  BA= .374.
Chris Shaw 1B- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .328.
Brandon Bednar 2B- 1 for 4, HR(1).  BA= .231.
Sam Coonrod RHP- 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K's, GO/AO= 10/4.  ERA= 1.32.

Jebavy has 6 hits in his last 13 AB's over 3 games.  Coonrod pitching to contact and making it work.

*********************************************************************************

Low A  Greenville Drive outscored the Augusta Greenjackets 9-4:

Dillon Dobson 1B- 2 for 4.  BA= .284.
Dylan Davis LF- 2 for 4.  BA= .300.
Matt Winn C- 2 for 4, HR(3).  BA= .333.
Logan Webb RHP- 4 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 4 K's, GO/AO= 7/0.  ERA= 5.96.

The peripherals look good, but the 9 hits included 2 dingers, so we can't blame it all on BABIP luck.

  1. My goodness. Is Hinojosa reminding anyone else of the early single-A San Jose Brandon Crawford??? Maybe not quite as many HRs as Crawford was hitting that season. Similar pedigree though, if I'm not mistaken?.. I feel something coming on with this kid, as well as with Shaw.

The questions will be answered when Hinojosa goes to AA. All Crawford did was keep his head above water when he was there, and I think the same may be true for Hinojosa. Could be another real bay in the system.
