I couldn't stomach watching the Giants game on TV anymore, so came to check out the minor league scores. Low and behold, all the minor league games are complete, so we'll do them first.
AAA Fresno Grizzlies edged the Iowa Cubs 3-2:
Brandon Crawford(SS)- 3 for 4, 2B, SB(2). BA= .375.
Andrew Kown(RHP)- 7.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 4.27.
I wonder if AAA seems too easy to these guys who get sent down after facing a lot of MLB pitching like Crawford has?
AA Richmond Flying Squirrels blanked the Portland Sea Dogs 5-0:
Johnny Monell(C)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .256.
Daryl Maday(RHP)- 6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 4.64.
High A High Desert Mavericks threw the San Jose Giants 4-2:
Gary Brown(CF)- 2 for 4, HR(9). BA= .318.
Ryan Cavan(2B)- 3 for 4, 2 2B, HR(8). BA= .265.
Kelvin Marte(LHP)- 6 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 3.25.
Jacob Dunnington(RHP)- 1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 1.37.
We'll chalk this one up to an extreme hitter's park for Dunnington who got all 5 of his outs via the K.
Low A Augusta Greenjackets beat the Rome Braves 6-2:
Ryan Lollis(RF)- 3 for 4. BA= .300.
Devin Harris(DH)- 2 for 3, HR(10), BB. BA= .220.
Rafael Rodriguez(LF)- 2 for 4. BA= .242.
Mike Kickham(LHP)- 7 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO= 11/4. ERA= 4.81.
Short Season Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped the Boise Hawks 6-0:
Jesus Galindo(CF)- 1 for 5, 2 SB(23). BA= .285.
Leonardo Ochoa(LF)- 2 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .299.
Joe Staley(C)- 2 for 2, 2B, 3 BB. BA= .268.
Garrett Buechele(3B)- 2 for 4, BB. BA= .269.
Ben Thomas- 3 for 4, 3B. BA= .375.
Brandon Allen(RHP)- 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's, GO/AO= 9/2. ERA= 5.72.
Ben Thomas has been promoted from Rookie AZL, about time! He went 0 for 4 in his debut with S-K yesterday. Is patience starting to pay off with Brandon Allen? He has an ERA of 4.05 in his last 7 starts. I believe this was his best games as a pro by a significant margin.
Rookie AZL Giants downed the Cubs 5-3:
Eric Sim(C)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .281.
Leonardo Fuentes(RF)- 1 for 4, HR(3). BA= .266.
Mike Merganthaler(LF)- 3 for 3, HR(2), BB. BA= .304.
Joan Gregorio(RHP)- 3 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K. ERA= 2.09.
Danny Sandbrink(RHP)- 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 1.93.
Derek Law(RHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.16.
Law has 12 K's against 1 BB, in 8.1 IP. Sandbrink, out of Stanford, has 20 K's against 2 BB, in 18.2 IP.
DSL Giants game postponed.

craw may have been turning over on the ball...but he dropped his k rate way down....so if he is making contact, he is gonna get hits in the pcl

in reality, if the org wants guys to be challenged...they should be sent back to the eastern....but that would kill their pay rates, and the bus rides arent fair
most of the guys on salk are works in progess...knew they would turn around the poor early season performances
