Burriss muscles up again. Belt can draw walks. Hope he's still choking up on the bat a bit. Gillaspie is hitting .444 over his last 10 games. I believe this was Runzler's longest start of the season, maybe of his career! I think this may be Edelfsen's best game of the year too.

It would be huge for the Giants if Runzler can develop as a starting pitcher in AAA. I've always liked his arm.. Its hard to believe Burris is hitting .357 in AAA.. He's a perfect example of the big difference between AAA and major league pitching.. I can't believe they brought in DeRosa for Belt.. I'd like to see Belt bring up that average.. .318 ave is good but not impressive for the reason mentioned earlier. Nice to see Chuckie Jones playing after the injuries he's had..
ReplyDeleteAgree with all of that except Belt needs to be playing every day and that wasn't going to happen at the MLB level.
ReplyDeleteRunzler being able to stick as a starter would indeed be huge.
Maybe they want Runzler to step into the 5th spot in the rotation, so that they can maintain the BB/9 precedent set by Zito and Sanchez.
ReplyDeleteReally, I'm not sure if they are grooming him as a some sort of swing-man, spot starter, long relief guy or just giving him extended outings to get his control under control. I guess for this year: both.
