Down on the Farm: 8/28/2011

AAA Sacramento River Cats defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 6-4:

Brett Pill(1B)- 2 for 4, BB. BA= .313.
Edgar Gonzalez(RF-LF)-2 for 4, HR(14). BA= .321.
Max Ramirez(DH)- 1 for 2, HR(11), BB, HBP. BA= .284.
Tyler LaTorre(C)- 1 for 3, HR(4), BB. BA= .293.

EdGone is coming close to playing every position this year. I think CF, C and P are the only ones left.

AA Akron Aeros beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels 5-2:

Francisco Peguero(RF)- 3 for 4, 2B. BA= .317.
Justin Schumer(RHP)- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 2.00.

High A Rancho Cucamonga downed he San Jose Giants 7-5:

Carter Jurica(SS)- 3 for 5, 2B. BA= .250.
Alex Burg(LF)- 1 for 3, HR(11), BB. BA= .292.

Burg is hitting .344 over his last 10 games. He has played catcher, 3B, 1B and LF for SJ. I think his season batting line is quite interesting: .292/.367/.524.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets blanked the Greenville Drive 7-0:

Devin Harris(LF)- 4 for 5, 2B, HR(14). BA= .231.
Mario Rodriguez(LHP)- 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 4.30.
Gaspar Santiago(LHP)- 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 4.25.

Scoma, Campbell and Villegas had 2 hits each.

Short Season Boise Hawks topped the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 9-2:

Nothing to see here.

Rookie AZL Giants were idle.

Hot Tip: Eric Surkamp is John Sickels' Prospect of the Day over on Minor League Ball. The link is over on the left.

  1. Does Peguero get his cup 'o joe next week? What is the Richmond playoff scene look like?

Does Connor get DFA'd, or does he have anything more than an outside shot at a roster spot next year?

Do any non-40 guys get a shot in the coming weeks? Pill? Christian? Gonzo?

  2. .317 at Richmond is very impressive, and I am sure Peguero will stop by for a cup of coffee. Connor may be given one last chance this spring, and I doubt we will see anyone out of the 40 man roster
