Game Wrap 8/13/2011: Giants 3 Marlins 0

I said in my last Game Wrap that Timmy was going to try to be the Stopper today and he did just that, blanking the Marlins over 7 innings in dominant fashion. I believe that Timmy knew his team needed a shutout, he prepared himself mentally to do it, and delivered exactly what he set out to do. That, my friends, is a Stopper! Key lines:

Jeff Keppinger- 2 for 4, HR(5). BA= .297.

Nate Schierholtz- 1 for 4, 2B. BA= .276.

Tim Lincecum- 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 10 K's. ERA= 2.58. OK, tell me you are going to bet against Timmy if he faces off against Roy Halladay in the NLCS again! What a dominant start against a pretty good lineup!

The Win enabled the Giants to stay 2 games behind the NL West leading D'Backs by 2 games as the Snakes topped the Mets 6-4. The third place Rockies remain 11.5 games behind after defeating the Cards 6-1.

Ryan Vogelsong tries for a series win tomorrow at 10 AM PDT facing off against Chris Volstad.

  1. Haha, why do I have this feeling that you jokingly used the word "stopper" in your intro to rub it in to Bacci and his comment on the previous game wrap..? ;)

    just great

i believe huff remarked that if timmy were playing for the yanks, he would be 20-3

  4. Even Timmy can't throw a shutout every game, but for just one game I believe Timmy knew what needed to be done, dug down deep and delivered. That's not to take anything away from Cainer and his performance Friday night. Cain has delivered his share to times too.

Both are terrific pitchers and as far as which one I like better as a fan, well, give me Cain. When both have their best stuff, though, Timmy's is a tick better.

Yeah, at one point earlier in the season after Buster's injury, the Marlins OWNER felt obliged to admonish Morrison to "shut up and play."

  5. I'll say this though, if the Giants didn't have Brandon Belt already, I'd be banging the drum for them to trade for Logan Morrison and make him their first baseman of the future. Dude can seriously hit, .240 BA notwithstanding and 1B is his natural position.
