Tim Hudson was a gamer for 6 innings, but James Shields dominated the Giants for a CG shutout and poor Huddy never had a chance in this one. Key Lines:
Tim Hudson- 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA=2.81. Hudson had allowed just 1 run on 3 hits through 6, but opened the 7'th by allowing 3 consecutive hits. With 1 run in, Jeremy Affeldt came in and got a DP ball, but then broke out his gas can and allowed 3 more hits and 3 more runs. Game over.
James Shields- 9 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K's, GO/AO= 12/4. ERA= 3.25. All those runs in the 7'th inning didn't matter one bit, because Shields was dominant and cruised to a CG victory.
Despite the Loss, the Giants did not lose ground to any of the key teams in the NL as the Dodgers, Pirates, Cardinals and Braves all lost.
Tim Lincecum tries to stave off a series sweep today facing left-hander Danny Duffy, who as far as I know is not related to Matt Duffy.
BTW, these Royals have won 6 games in a row and 9 of 10. They are just 1.5 games behind the first place Detroit Tigers in the AL Central and if the season ended right now, they would be in the AL playoffs as the second Wild Card team. Are you paying attention, Dave Cameron?
