For as much as the media bashes the quality of the Giants minor league position players, I am pretty excited to see several players jump through our system. Yes, most of them are not near MLB ready but the future does look bright.
ReplyDeleteHere are a few that could be very decent MLB players
Daniel Carbonell, Austin Slater, Christian Arroyo, Mitch Delfino, Elliot Blair, Blake Miller, Chuckie Jones, Mac Williamson
If even 2 of those players become everyday players that is something to be proud of.
I agree and even farther down I'm very excited about the possibilities of Mikey Edie in the DSL.
DeleteYou are right! I forgot to mention any DSL prospects.
DeleteI think if Mac Williamson comes back next year at full strength that adds a lot of value to the farm.
I'll add Tyler Horan to the mix too.
DeletePanik and Susac already look like they can hang around at the MLB level. If Adrianza and Duffy continue to improve, I'd think this organization would have to be taken seriously (and should have been LONG ago!). Carbonell could be the difference-maker. He looks like a guy that might literally run right through the system. But I totally agree, there are many hitters worth keeping an eye on in this system right now.
DeleteI also really like what this draft class is doing early on. Garcia/Slater/Cole/Davis/Ewing/Amion can swing the bat... to what extent, we'll probably get a better idea next year. But I like what they're doing right now. Lacen/Murray and Rivera are kids with very interesting skillsets. All very different hitters, but I could see one of them making a little noise.
Just a hunch, but I think Arenado turns out to be the best bat from the 2013 class. Bloodlines can and often do run deep in this game.
