The Giants Big Guns went to work today with longballs and maybe Madison Bumgarner's best game as a pro for a dominant win over the Mets. Key Lines:
Hunter Pence- 3 for 5, 2B, 2 HR(15). BA= .289. Pence broke out of a mini-slump after consulting with batting coach Hensley "Bam-Bam" Meulens. That line will work at leadoff or at cleanup.
Buster Posey- 4 for 5, 2B, HR(13). BA= .288. Posey seems to be heating up again. Hopefully this was his breakout game for the rest of the season.
Brandon Belt- 1 for 4, HR(11). BA= .250. No question the Giants have missed Belt's longball potential in the lineup. Let's just hope he can stay healthy the rest of the way.
Madison Bumgarner- 1 for 2, BB, Sac. BA= .265. Bummy has become as much of a weapon at the plate as on the mound. He should be the #1 PH off the bench on days he is not pitching.
Madison Bumgarner- 9 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K's. ERA= 3.21. Just 94 pitches for a CG shutout, 19 balls.
The Win enabled the Giants to cut the Dodgers' lead in the NL West to 2.5 games after the Hated Ones lost to the Cubs 6-3. The Giants also now lead the Cardinals by 0.5 games for the first Wild Card playoff spot, the Pirates by 1 game, the Braves by 2.5 games and the Reds by 4 games.
Tim Hudson tries for the 3-1 series win tomorrow facing Dillon Gee.
