Down on the Farm: 8/29/2014

AAA  Tacoma Rainiers outslugged the Fresno Grizzlies 9-7:

Adam Duvall(1B)- 2 for 5, 2B, BB.  BA= .302.
Chris Dominguez(3B)- 3 for 4, HR(21).  BA= .272.
Brandon Hicks(2B)- 1 for 4, HR(6).  BA= .215.
Trevor Brown(Catcher)- 2 for 3, BB.  BA= .323.

Brown hit .215 in 195 AB for San Jose earlier in the season.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels edged the Binghampton Mets 2-1:

Mario Lisson(RF)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .268.
Skyler Stromsmoe(SS)- 2 for 3, 2B, 2 SB(12).  BA= .230.
Adalberto Mejia(LHP)- 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 3 K.  ERA= 4.67.
Hunter Strickland(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, Save(11).  ERA= 2.02.

High A  San Jose Giants tamed the High Desert Mavericks 12-8:

Daniel Carbonell(DH)- 1 for 3, 2B.  BA= .313.
Brandon Bednar(SS)- 2 for 5, 2B, HR(5), BB.  BA= .253.

Joe Kurrasch(LHP)- 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 3.05.

Not sure why Carbonell came out of the game after 3 AB.  Hopefully because the game was a blowout early and not due to injury.  Maybe it's Turner who is driving for a .300 BA?

Low A  Charleston River Dogs defeated the Augusta Greenjackets 6-1:

Ty Ross(Catcher)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= 246.
Christian Jones(LHP)- 5 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 3.33.

Robinson Medrano(RF, 18 yo)- 2 for 5.
Manuel Geraldo(SS, 17 yo)- 2 for 4, 2B, 3B.
Victor Concepcion(RHP, 17 yo)- 4.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 4 K's.

I believe this game eliminates the Giants from the DSL playoffs.

baby giants are still (barely) alive for the wc in the cal league. if sj doesnt make it, it will be the first time in a decade that they dont make the post season and the first time ever that a sakata led team hasnt made it

    1. Thanks, LG. Yes, it is very rewarding to see minor leaguers I have been writing about and rooting for come up and do well. I've been saying for how long that the Giants system is not as bad as it's been made out to be. Panik Susac and Duffy are validating that opinion before our eyes!

  3. Someday I would love to see you rank the Gianrts minor league OF prospects - Horan and Carbonell are tearing it up and there are a few other talented players in the mix as well, including Mac Williamson … Carbonell gets a Fall League invite whereas Horan was excluded. I was hoping Horan would have been invited ...
