The Giants got strong pitching from Matt Cain and 5 relievers while Buster Posey made his first HR of the season in the first inning count for 3 of the Giants 4 runs. Key Lines:
Angel Pagan(CF)- 2 for 3, BB. BA= .211. In addition to the 2 hits and a walk, Pagan reached on an error in the first inning and came home in front of Buster Posey on the HR. Pagan is looking healthy and his bat is coming around just in time for the season to start.
Buster Posey(Catcher)- 1 for 4, HR(1). BA= .277. Buster got his arms extended on a Kendall Graveman sinker that caught too much of the plate and drove it over the CF fence to stake the Giants to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Matt Cain(RHP)- 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 5.40. Cain threw an awful lot of pitches(79) in 4 innings, but the ump had a tight strike zone and Cainer actually looked quite sharp. He seemed to labor a bit in the 3'rd inning, but came out and breezed through the 4'th.
Jeremy Affeldt, Juan Gutierrez, Jean Machi, Hunter Strickland and Sergio Romo each pitched a shutout inning. The last 4 pitched perfect ball with 6 K's.
Tim Hudson will start the spring finale in Oakland tomorrow with Tim Lincecum getting a final tuneup out of the bullpen.
Some big decisions come due after the game tomorrow.

We are going to need Strickland, Okert, Gutirrrez, Kontos, maybe Law later, if health and able, and not impossible, I guess, Mejia.
ReplyDeleteI think Bochy will be aggressive to try to get out to a good start.
im wondering when the mlb will come to the realization that one of the reasons games run long is due to the umps behind the plate and their magically changing k-zones, which run up pitch counts
