Game Wrap 6/29/2012: Reds 5 Giants 1

Reds shortstop Zack Cozart ended all sorts of streaks when he sent Matt Cain's first pitch of the game over the left field wall.  It was all over but the shouting long before the first out of the game was recorded.  I'm not going to say Matt Cain and the Giants were flat, but let's just say that when the intensity level reaches what it was the night before. well, that's pretty much unsustainable for anybody.  Key Lines:

Pablo Sandoval- 2 for 3, 2B, HR(6), BB.  BA= .313.  Pablo appears to be all the way back from his injury and is looking noticeably thinner than when he first came back.

7 other Giants hitters had 1 hit apiece, unfortunately very few in the same inning.

Matt Cain- 6.2 IP, 11 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 2.53.  The Reds hitters kind of acted like they knew something about Cain and went after him aggressively with Cozart's leadoff blow setting the tone.  From the pitching line, it looks like Cain might have been BABIPed, but most of the hits were squared up and driven.

The Dodgers lost to the Mets 9-0 to stay 1 game back of the NL West leading Giants, however, the Dangerous D'Backs pounded the BrewCrew 9-3 and are now lurking just 4 games behind the leaders.

Barry Zito takes the mound facing Mat Latos in game 3 of the series in a Saturday afternoon game.

    1. I see it as Sabes buying low on a player with pretty big upside. Too bad for Loux, but he's not a guy you're gonna let stand in the way of that.

Carlos Lee ain't gonna save the Dodgers, but Matt Kemp might.
