Gary Brown(CF)- 2 for 6.  BA= .242.
Tommy Joseph(C)- 1 for 3, SF.  BA= .248.

High A  Cal League was idle for the last day of their A-S break.

Low A  SAL was idle for the last day of their A-S break.

Short Season  Yakima Bears mauled the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 8-2:

Matt Duffy(SS)- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .263.
Joseph Rapp(1B)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .143.

  1. Hope Villalona and the Giants can get his Visa resolve before the season comes to and end so he can go to the AZL or Salem.

If not, DrB, where do you think Villalona will start next year if he is granted a Visa.

    1. I would think Angel V would go to San Jose when/if he ever makes it back to the states.

  2. It was inspiring to read yesterday the Angels' Trumbo took forever to work his way through their system.

Can Jackson Williams do the same?

    1. Well, Trumbo was drafted out of HS while Williams came out of college, so there's that.

Trumbo was drafted in 2004, made his pro debut in 2005, made a cameo MLB appearance in 2010 and won a mostly starting job in 2011 at age 25.

  3. People in our culture are probably not accustomed to this, but in some countries, apparently they change their names on a daily basis.

Yesterday, it was Hengerberger. Today, it's Hengerber.

    1. Yeah, I noticed that too and had to do a double take. Interesting name in any case.

  4. AnVil is KILLING it in the DSL. If he still has Visa issues, than the State Dept will have to find a different excuse moving forward.

Looks Like JW has over-taken Whitey as the top catcher in the minors. If not for the 40-man considerations, he would be the first called up if needed. As it is, I would not be SHOCKED to see Whitey DFA'd in favor of JW...

  5. I saw the Fresno game in Sacramento yesterday and was interested to see Heath Hembree. I don't know what happened to his upper 90's fastball as he entered the game throwing 88,89,91,92 and never topped 92. He did show a nice off speed pitch but he looked really easy to hit.

    1. Well, that would make sense from the numbers he's putting up. Sometimes when pitchers work on secondary stuff or on improving command, they lose velocity.

I know I saw him early last year with San Jose and he was sitting 94-96 in that one.

  6. total miscalculation on blackley

first, putting him in the pen after he had been working as an sp in fresno...then thinking he would make it through waivers

shut down the bums today...giants could really use him right about now

    1. You really think the Giants would sit Zito or Timmy for Blackley? Good game today, but let's see how long it lasts.

    2. 2 wins in a row

and how long can this org go with a sure 2 losses out of every 5?

one of them has to go to the dl

      Delete
    3. And you are convinced Blackley is the answer after two good starts?

    4. no....but throwing zito and timmy out every 5th isnt either

      have another query for ya

      busted for roids....50 game suspension

pine tar or any other way of doctoring ball...8 games

what is wrong with this picture?

and where is the screaming about managers knowing full well when their pitchers are cheating?

    5. Got news for you, Bacci. Zeets and Timmy ain't going anywhere. Well, maybe Zeets if he continues to get lit up like last game, but that remains to be seen.

Not sure why, but there is a lot of emotional over-reaction on the part of fans and even more so by sportswriters to the PED thing. Doctoring the ball is part of baseball lore and considered more of a "boys will be boys" type of thing, while PED's are considered the ultimate moral failing.

Here's a Q: Are players and managers allowed to have fantasy baseball teams?

  7. Jorge Bucardo sighting in SK. He didn't pitch well but this is his first outing in almost 2 years. Hope he regains his form
