AAA Fresno Grizzlies edged the Las Vegas 51's 5-4:
Francisco Peguero(CF)- 2 for 3, BB. BA= .237.
Pablo Sandoval(3B)- 2 for 2, 2 HR(2), BB. BA= .273.

Frankie Pegs played CF and led off. Not sure if those are position changes or a 1 game thing. Sandoval was called up from his rehab assignment after the game. Brett Pill will be sent out or down or whatever. Sandoval's hand seems fine. I guess he got himself into game shape in 2 days?
AA Portland Sea Dogs defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-1 in a game completed early after 7.5 innings:

Mitchell played for the Dodgers some at the MLB level last year. Ranaudo is a formerly highly touted college pitcher whose stock has fallen a lot.

Panik got 3 of the Giants 4 hits. He's been in a pretty bad slump of late. Runzler starts his rehab.

Saw Mitchell hit his 1st MLB HR at AT&T in September 2010. Giants beat up on the Lily & the Dodgers that night 10-2. My buddy (Dodger fan) got some great seats, right on the visitor's dugout. After the game we saw Mitchell in the tunnel, crossing to the locker room. My buddy gave him the old, "Good game, Russell." Mitchell said thanks, he appreciated it, etc. Real sincere and all. Seems like a good guy.
ReplyDeleteI see his numbers aren't great. Tough to get things on track in the EL.
HOWEVER, Pato will be happy to know, that we also saw his girlfriend/wife in the tunnel that night. Now she was hot. So, there's that.
DrB, where will you rank Mike Kickham if he continues like this or even gets better? Future #3 or #4??
ReplyDeleteKickham is what he has always been, a big hard throwing LHP with a high ceiling who still gives up too many walks and gets hittable at times. I'll say his ceiling is a #2 starter with a floor of being a useful LOOGY. That's a fairly wide range of outcomes that depend mainly on his ability to cut down his BB's.
DeleteRight now, I might rank Kickham behind the Giants top tier pitching prospects who are the 3 kids in Augusta, Crick, Blackburn and Mejia. I'd probably rank him a hair ahead of Heston. A healthy Surkamp might rank ahead of him, but Surkamp is not healthy. I'd rank Chris Stratton in the top tier and maybe Agosta in there with Kickham in tier 2.
the grind seems to be getting to some of the sj players...that isnt good as the travel is pretty light and they play in mostly hitter friendly parks...time to send in decker and his inspirational bumper stickers
ReplyDeletei think the rome kids were so overwhelmed at playing with chipper, they forgot there was a game going on....augusta kids didnt...made chipper cry
pablo is still fat
i like pill...he was never supposed to even get a cup of coffee and he busted his hump
Pablo doesn't look as fat as I was afraid of from all the angst over it. Pablo ain't ever gonna be small.
DeleteSorry to change the topic, but what do you know about Francisco Peguero's legs at the moment? I know that he had a knee problem. Given that he is playing right field now and has stolen only one base this season, it seems as if he is not moving as well as he once did. I sure hope he has a full recovery, because his future as a major leaguer would not look very bright if he couldn't steal bases.
