Spring Training Update: Game Wrap Giants 1 D'Backs 1

Pitching too center stage in Maryvale Baseball Park as the Giants and BrewCrew battled to a 1-1 standstill after 9 innings. Hey, it's just an exhibition game! Key Lines:

Gary Brown- 0 for 4. BA= .000

Emmanuel Burris- 1 for 3. BA= .400. Backup MI competition is heating up. Burriss vs Cajuns. Cajuns win today.

Joe Panik- 1 for 1. Panik gets his first big league hit, except it doesn't count.

Brandon Crawford- 2 for 3, CS. BA= .600. Very encouraging early spring performance from the guy who looks like John Stamos.

Madison Bumgarner- 2.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 4 K's. Midseason form!

Heath Hembree- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. Dominant line. I'm dying to hear any eyewitness reports.

Matt Cain takes the mound tomorrow evening in Scottsdale facing the BrewCrew again.

Brews OF Corey Hart had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and is out 3-4 weeks. Rickie Weeks sat out with a sore shoulder.

Around the League: Carlos Beltran has a sore shoulder. Anybody surprised?

Holy moly! Andrew Cashner, obtained from the Cubs in the Anthony Rizzo trade AVERAGED 102.2 MPH in an inning of relief work for the Padres.

Ryan Madsen has an "irritated elbow" Hmm.....maybe the Phillies knew something?

  1. nobody from my twitter feed went to this game...i know every outlet has at least 2 beat writers at st...someone had to be there

nice to see craw getting hits....i want more reports on his approach at the plate...that will tell more of the tail of how he will do during the reg season

want to know what hembree threw....dont care if he gets ruffed up if he is trying out his secondary pitches...if he is just throwing heat, sure, he will get k's early on...but then the league will catch up to him

the way the giants starters have looked, i wouldnt be surprised to see them start stretching it out much earlier than in the past

am i surprised about carlos?? rofl...i still want wheeler back

    1. Bacci,

Here's one in your wheelhouse: Shane Loux tweeted after the game, "All you #SFGIANTS fans are in for a treat this year if today's game is any indication of the defense at short by @bcraw35 this year. Wow!"

bunch of the guys definitely will have a career post baseball behind the mic

one should be affeldt, but he will probably choose a preacher's life

    pablo looked very fit

pagan really did remind me of andres...very up and positive

belt looked a lot more solid, i think the winter ball stint was a huge positive

    zito did not show up

kuipe tried to get bam bam to take a dig at rowand....and bam bam was just too nice to do it....and as i suspected, even the guys in the booth never dug that stance

  3. John Sickels and Matt Garrioch did a joint mock draft on Minor League Ball. They alternated picks. They have the Giants taking power hitting 3B prospect Trey Williams. Klima has a scouting gushing scouting report up on Baseball Prospect Report. Check it out.

  4. And Andrew McCutch gets locked up for six years 51.5MM. Buys out 2 years of arbitration, and one of the white whales is off the board. Booo! I was hoping the Pirates would screw that one up.

    1. Shank, thy whale will find thee one day. 6/51.5MM is a really good deal for McCutcheon and the Bucs. Waiting on Cain...
