OMG! I guess Hector Sanchez decided he needed to do something about Tommy Joseph! He just hit another bomb, this one batting LH.
Nice pitching by Jake Dunning to get out of a jam after Noonan threw away a DP grounder with runners on first and second. He started out with shaky command, but once he settled down, he threw nice easy high heat with a nasty hard slider to back it up.

ReplyDeleteCurious about Manny Burriss' fielding - what did you think live? My impression of him has always been rangy, makes some good plays, occasional clanks when you don't expect them. I am coming to grips with the fact he might be our starting 2B to start the season.
ReplyDeleteAlso there is some chatter about the Hobbit not making the 25. I bet he will, but Blanco Mania is taking over so folks are looking for somebody to cut.
I missed the MLB 30 in 30 with the Giants but apparently Sabean raved about Belt on camera.
Burriss fielding looked really good at both 2B and 3B. The only questionable play was a failure to cover 1B on a hard push bunt that Belt fielded too far away from the bag to make the play himself, but it happened so fast, I'm not sure Burriss could have gotten over even if he had broken immediately.
DeleteHe also made a pest of himself at the bottom of the order along with Blanco. Burriss is a really good guy to play "small ball" with, if you believe in small ball.
Although Sabean may have, I remember Larry Bowa raving about Belt more. Its nice to see someone outside the Giants org. doing that. Bowa said something to the effect that if they give Belt 500 abs he's going to produce. But he also said if Belt makes the Giants as a backup and gets only limited playing time, the Giants would be stunting his development which I tend to agree with..
DeleteThe best part was when Dan Plesac picked the Giants to win the West and Larry Bowa picked him as one of the wild card teams!
