Breaking News: Kyle Harrison to IL

No!!!!!!  A bad situation just became dire.  Kyle Harrison LHP who was scheduled to start today's series finale against the Angels was placed on the 15 day IL with an ankle sprain(I don't want to know how THAT happened).  At least it's not he arm.  Ooof!!!!

Spencer Bivens RHP was called up to the Active Roster and Nick Avila RHP was DFA's to make room on the 40-man roster for Bivens.

  1. i suspect another roster move is gonna happen after today, tommy romero is likely going to be up with the team when harrison's next turn is up. it may be to give noah syndergaard a call to add an arm in sacramento.

  2. Apparently Harrison hurt his ankle while working out in the weight room, of all places … the bum luck continues! Is it too soon to try Carson Seymour at the big league level?

  3. Listening to the final game of the series on the radio, Flemming pointed out that Doval looked pretty lackluster when they brought him in during the 9th inning … implying he didn’t act like he wanted to be brought in for a non-save opportunity. He also contrasted how Angeles’ manager Ron Washington had chewed his closer out earlier in the series when he came in to do mop-up duty and didn’t put out much of an effort. Doval went on to throw 30 pitches in the inning, gave up a bunch of runs and the Giants had to bring in another reliever — something they really didn’t want to do with a 10-run lead and a long road trip starting the next day.

    1. i imagine tomorrow doval will be watching the game from the clubhouse as a bit of a punishment. we'll see if tommy milone gets a call tomorrow since he is pitching in mexico right now.

    2. Nice Save by Doval on 11 pitches – must have been called out of the clubhouse...

  4. Doval always appears nonchalant, unrattled, and his stuff is good enough that he can be a bit wild and get away with it. Sometimes he doesn't have it, but his demeanor doesn't change. He is somewhat less consistent this year, but so is the team, what's new?
