Game Wrap 4/25/2017: Dodgers 2 Giants 1

Ty Blach was a gamer in his rematch with Clayton Kershaw, but a sputtering Giants offense came up short.  Key Lines;

Christian Arroyo 3B- 1 for 4.  BA= .125.  Arroyo gets his first MLB hit and against Clayton Kershaw, but is off to a slow start to his MLB career.

Buster Posey 1B- C- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .360.  Brandon Belt sat on the bench against Clayton Kershaw.  Buster has hit in 7 straight since coming off the Concussion DL but without power.

Ty Blach LHP- 1 for 2, 2B.  BA= .500.  Maybe the Giants need to find alternate positions for Ty Blach and Madison Bumgarner when they face Kershaw.  Blach not only goes toe-to-to with the great one on the mound, he seems to see him darn well at the plate too!

Ty Blach LHP- 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 K's, GO/AO= 8/0.  BA= 4.22.  The Dodgers dinged him for 2 runs in the 4'th inning, but another strong effort by Blach against the arch rivals.  The challenge will be to pitch as well against other opponents in the days and weeks ahead.  He'll definitely have some rope for more reasons than the Giants don't really have anyone else to plug in.

With the Loss, the Giants remained in last place in the NL West, 7 games behind the leading Rockies who lost a slugfest to the Nationals 15-12.  The D'Backs smacked the Padres 9-2 and trail the Rocks by 0.5 games.  The third place Dodgers remain 5 games off the pace while the Pathetic Padres remain 0.5 games ahead of the Giants, 6.5 out of first place.

Johnny Cueto goes against Alex Wood in a contest that should favor the Giants tonight in game 3 of the series.

The Giants injury problems mounted as Brandon Crawford pulled up with a groin strain after running out a single in the 8'th inning.  He was about to start a bereavement leave tomorrow.  Nunez will play SS in his absence.

  1. With Crawford's injury it's good think Arroyo is up for third base then.
