AAA Sacramento River Cats blasted the Las Vegas 51's 11-1:
Orlando Calixte 2B- 4 for 4. BA= .262.
Jae-Gyun Hwang 3B- 1 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .300.
Mac Willamson LF- 3 for 4, HR(1), BB. BA= .250.
Tim Fedorowicz C- 3 for 5. BA= .316.
Carlos Moncrief PH-RF- 2 for 2, SB(2). BA= .342.
Joan Gregorio RHP- 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.42.
Tyler Rogers RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 2.15.
Lots of good stuff here, not the least of which is Mac's big game which may show he is getting close to being ready to come back and take over LF duties in SF and it can't come soon enough! With Nunez having to fill in for Crawford at SS, the Giants may not have much choice but to push it with Mac. Strong start for Gregorio who gives the Giants a bit of pitching depth that is close to being MLB ready. Hwang has been more steady than spectacular.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels topped the Bowie Baysox 2-1:
Hunter Cole RF- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .172.
Carlos Garcia LF- 3 for 4. BA= .250.
Matt Gage LHP- 4.1 IP, 10 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 3.00.
Jordan Johnson RHP- 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.25.
Not sure how you give up 10 hits and a walk in 4.1 IP and only give up 1 run, but we'll take it. Jordan Johnson's 4 IP were much more dominant.

High A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes destroyed the San Jose Giants 9-1:
Bryan Reynolds CF- 3 for 4. BA= .309.
Jose Vizcaino Jr 1B- 2 for 4. BA= .200.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets rode the first Perfect Game in SAL history to a 9-0 whitewashing of the Lexington Legends:
Ashford Fulmer CF- 2 for 5, 3B. BA= .243.
Kelvin Beltre 2B- 2 for 4, 2B, HR(2). BA= .286.
Jacob Heyward LF- 1 for 3, 2B, BB. BA= .259.
Will Albertson C- 1 for 3, HR(1), BB. BA= .259.
Dominic Mazza LHP- 9 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 9 K's. ERA= 3.48.
There it is! The first 9 inning complete perfect game in SAL history! Mazza didn't just get BABIP lucky, he dominated with the 9 K's too, although he benefitted from a couple of great catches by Sandro Fabian in RF in the 8'th and 9'th innings. Beltre continues his strong season. He got tossed after exchanging words with the opposing catcher after his dinger.

Mazza only took 85 pitches to get there which is amazing. Hopefully, Mac can make the drive down tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteMac did have good day yesterday, but that's really his first one since he started back again. He's 3-18. I'm a huge Mac fan, but I'd rather them put Gorky's in LF for 3 days, bring up Tomlinson or Calixte to sit on the bench for those same three days, and let Mac continue to get some ABs. I'd like to see them bring him up only if he's going to stay up. None of this up and down stuff. They guy's had enough of that. He's deserves better, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteMac might be a better defender than Gorkys right now and he definitely hits better. Kelby is on his way though.
DeleteMichael Morse called up today.
