The Giants offense mustered just 2 hits off Rockies SP Tyler Chatwood who cruised to a CG 2-Hit Shutout. Key Lines:
Tyler Chatwood RHP(Rockies)- 9 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K, GO/AO= 17/3. ERA= 3.54. This is the only line that matters in this game. Chatwood, who graduated from Redlands East Valley HS in my hometown, is a good pitcher who is underrated because he has to pitch half his games in Coors Field, but against the Giants he might as well be Walter Johnson reincarnate. Chatwood has made 12 career starts against the Giants, more than against any other MLB team, and holds a 2.91 ERA in those 12 starts.

The Padres lose again to the Braves 4-2 and are 0.5 games ahead of the Giants at 5-7.

Jeff Samardzija tries to tie the 4 game series tomorrow facing Antonio Senzatela, a rookie RHP who sports a 1.50 ERA after 2 MLB Starts.

Jarrett Parker made a nice running catch in LF before running into the padded LF wall. Unfortunately it wasn't padded enough to keep him from breaking his right clavicle. He is headed to the DL and will likely miss at least 2 months. No word on who the Giants might call up to replace him.

I remember watching him pitch for the Halos in 2011 and couldn't understand why they traded him to the Rox. He deserves a lot of credit for the MLB career he's put together considering he's had 2 TJ surgeries and he has to pitch half his games at coors field. I considered adding him to my fantasy team but learned he's a good pitcher on the road but struggles at home. Hope the G's get the split tomorrow.

That makes 2 spots to fill. How long do you think the Aaron Hill experiment will run, although he's not the only giant problem?
ReplyDeleteWell, this has been a rocky start. Bumgarner has yet to get a win. Moore is up-and-down. Two-thirds of our OF can't buy a hit. Posey, one of the hitting bright spots, never mind being one of baseball's best catchers, got his noggin thumped.
ReplyDeleteFortunately it's a long season and there's plenty of time to get things going.
Too bad for Parker. Never thought he was a Major Leaguer, but he gave everything he had like a champ. His hustle on the 3 run error play against the Diamondbacks and that catch last night showed his dedication to his team, his drive to win, and his passion for the game. Just wish his hitting ability was better, now we will probably never know if he could have turned it around. At least not as a Giant. Next man up time. Lets go Austin Slater?
ReplyDeleteThe Giants said Parker's replacement will have to come from the 40-man roster. Marrero is starting today. Okert was called up from AAA.
