Down on the Farm: 6/15/2015

AAA  Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Sacramento River Cats 6-3:

Matt Cain(RHP)- 3.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 8.10.
Clayton Blackburn(RHP)- 4.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 6 K's, GO/AO= 5/1.  ERA= 4.43.
Jean Machi(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

OK, which team is the Giants affiliate?  The 7 K's seem encouraging for Matt Cain. Baggs reports his FB hit 92 MPH.  Machi starts his rehab assignment.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels Idle.

High A  San Jose Giants edged out the Modesto Nuts 2-1:

Ty Ross(Catcher)- 2 for 3, HR(2).  BA= .247.
Tommy Hanson(RHP)- 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

Ty Ross stays hot.  Tommy Hanson starts his comeback with a dominant appearance.  Now, wouldn't THAT be something……!?

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets beat the West Virginia Power 5-2:

Fargas(.302), Paulino(.295), Arenado(.269), Davis(.207), Callaway(.261), Cain(.197)- 2 hits each.
Sam Coonrod(RHP)- 6.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 2.51.

All 12 of the hits listed above were singles.  Coonrod is pitching like he wants a promotion.

DSL Giants pounded the Yankees1 13-7:

Juan Rodriguez(LF, 20 yo)- 3 for 5, HR(1), BB, SB(6).  BA= .412.
Robinson Medrano(1B, 19 yo)- 2 for 3, 2 HR(2), BB.  BA= .358.
Robert Antunez(2B, 19 yo)- 3 for 4, BB.  BA= .344.
Jose Patino(CF, 17 yo)- 2 for 3, 2B, 2 BB.  BA= .179.
Melvin Adon(RHP, 21 yo)- 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 3.00.
Norwith Gudino(RHP, 19 yo)- 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 3.24.

Even though he is 20 yo, JuanRod has just one prior season of DSL experience.  Not sure what the deal is with Adon and Gudino, but there are no prior pro stats on their milb.com bio pages.

  1. Nice dominant line for Hanson. I wonder if Hanson continues to impress in his comeback trail, should the Giants still check out a starting pitcher in the deadline like Leake or we'll DFA someone for the sake of Hanson?

    1. Unless our rotation craters healthwise, I don't see Hanson reaching the majors this season, I've been assuming he'll be battling for a rotation spot in spring.

  2. Any word on Chuckie Jones? Shouldn't he be eligible to play by now?

    1. I noticed that too, his suspension was for 50 games and all the affiliates are over 50 games. He probably has to go to extended spring training or instructional league, to get into game shape, but still, should be some news.

    2. No idea. I assume Jones is in extended ST.
