AA New Britain Rock Cats defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels 7-3:
Rando Moreno(SS)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .303.
Mitch Delfino(3B)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .257.
Ricky Oropesa(1B)- 4 for 4, 2 2B. BA= .301.
Joe Biagini(RHP)- 3.2 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K. ERA= 1.97.
Stephen Johnson(RHP)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K. ERA= 3.78.
Ricky breaks the .300 barrier! After hitting .343 for the month of May, Ricky Oropesa is hitting .364 in June and .452 over his last 10 games. This was Joe Biagini's first non-QS after 7 in a row and in his last non-QS he allowed just 2 runs in 5.2 IP.

Short Season Vancouver Canadians topped the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 5-3:
Chase Compton(3B)- 2 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .214.
Fernando Pujadas(Catcher)- 2 for 5, 2B. BA= .308.
Shilo McCall(LF)- 2 for 4, BB. BA= .333.
Brennan Metzger(CF)- 0 for 3, 3 BB, SB(2). BA= .133.
Armando Paniagua(RHP)- 2.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K. ERA= 0.00.
Paniagua has kicked around for awhile in the lower minors. I read a recent eyewitness report that he throws some pretty serious heat, though.

Rookie AZL A's outscored the Giants 10-6:
Byron Murray(RF)- 2 for 5, 2 2B. BA= .417.
Kevin Rivera(2B)- 3 for 4, 2B, 3B. BA= .500.
Geno Escalante(Catcher)- 2 for 3, 2B, HBP. BA= .667.
This is the second Arizona gig for both Murray and Rivera, but both are good looking young ballplayers who I have high hopes for in the future.

I know you go to quakes games occasionally. Are you at the ASG tonight?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was an ASG last night until I saw the boxscore.
DeleteThat's too bad. I ended up having two extra tickets. You could have come for free.
DeleteHunter cole looked ok at the plate. Austin slater looked overmatched. His single was a chopper to second that took a crazy bounce over the second baseman.
Chase Johnson sat 96 with a decent looking curve, but he was having a tough time getting his fastball where he wanted it and gave up a couple hits. Mella made a Carolina player look silly with his change and his fastball was mid 90's as well.
Off topic information.
ReplyDeleteA French girl, Melissa Mayeux is first woman added to baseball international registration list. She plays shortstop and got some buzz here in France. Baseball in France is alive !!! :-)
