Game Wrap 5/30/2015: Braves 8 Giants 0

The Giants were facing a rookie pitcher they had never seen before and they were not able to figure him out while Tim Lincecum had a bit of a ragged performance on the mound ending the Giants 5 game win streak.  Key Lines:

Tim Lincecum- 4.1 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 3.00.  Not Timmy at his best.  No pickup from the offense.

Yusmeiro Petit- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 3.60.

Jean Machi- 2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 5.68.  Machi's struggles continue although it did not make a difference in this game.

Williams Perez(Braves)- 7 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO= 12/2.  ERA= 2.66.  Perez, lived up to his reputation as a super-sinkerballer.  These types of pitchers, especially if they have not seen them before, can sometimes tie up the Giants and he certainly did tonight.

Giants hitters had 8 batters get 1 hit each.  I guess that's what you call 8 scattered hits.

With the loss, the Giants fall back into 2'nd place in the NL West, 0.5 games behind the Dodgers who topped the Cardinals 5-1 with Frias outpitching Michael Wacha.  As Vin Scully would say, "go figure!"

Madison Bumgarner seems to be drawing the opposing teams' best pitchers so far and tomorrow he takes on Julio Tehran trying for a series Win.

  2. With Machi struggling do you think the Giants will call up a new arm like Okert?

    1. If they do, I think it would be Mike Broadway instead of Okert. They might also feel like they need to make a move when Cordier's opt out comes due. Machi has been a big contributor though, so I think he will get a bit longer leash.
