AAA Las Vegas outslugged the Sacramento River Cats 12-8:
Ehire Adrianza(SS)- 4 for 5, 2 2B. BA= .298.
Hunter Pence(RF)- 1 for 4, HR(1), BB. BA= .167.
Jarrett Parker(LF)- 1 for 4, HR(8), BB, SB(7). BA= .252.
Juan Gutierrez(RHP)- 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 4.74.
Adrianza's name was out of the boxscores from 4/21-5/9. I assume he was injured. He's had trouble staying on the field in the last 2 years and it has probably adversely affected his career. Pence played all 9 innings and the HR came in the 9'th.

High A Modesto Nuts topped the San Jose Giants 4-2:
Ryan Lollis(LF)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .371.
Chase Johnson(RHP)- 6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K's, GO/AO= 9/3. ERA= 1.99.
Has Chase Johnson found some consistency? He's tended to run very hot and cold in the past.

Low A Game 1 Augusta Greenjackets beat the Delmarva Shorebirds 8-5:
Seth Harrison(CF)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .281.
Jonah Arenado(3B)- 2 for 4. BA= .317.
Aramis Garcia(Catcher)- 2 for 4, HR(4). BA= .205.
Skyler Ewing(DH)- 2 for 3. BA= .196.
Johneshwy Fargas has gone missing from the boxscores so I assume he is injured. Ewing has been one of the bigger disappointments so far this minor league season.

Low A Game 2 Augusta Greenjackets blanked the Delmarva Shorebirds 1-0:
Cristian Paulino(DH)- 2 for 3, 2 2B. BA= .340.
Nathanael Santiago(RHP)- 5.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 10 K's. ERA= 3.65.

DeleteThe Giants are suddenly building some depth at the minor league starting pitcher level with the signing of Romero and now Hanson. Both projects but if either one of them hit will be a big boost to the team this year and next when we have some FA's. Based on the track record of the Giants rehabilitating these kinds of projects, I am optimistic.

Well, they aren't always successful with their rehabilitation projects. Remember Dontrelle Willis? But hey, if they hit on 1 out or 3 or 1 out of 5, it's a tremendous competitive advantage.
DeletePlus, both Romero and Hanson have had issues with injuries that have held them back for years.
DeleteIn addition, the track record is spotty per DrBs point regarding hitting on a small percentage, there were others fliers they took that did not work out. But to your point below, the great part is they do it with cheap players.
So, for me, I have no expectations of results, but will pay attention and see what happens. They get on my radar.
I think Dontrelle was much more broken than either of these guys but I get your point. What I like about them too though is that they are cheap. The Dodgers seem to be willing to pay top dollars for "projects" or guys with a history of injuries and it has come back to bite them. These guys are low risk, high reward types.

As long as they don't block promotions for legitimate prospects, not that it's happening now.
