    1. Just what I was going to say. Pretty impressive, despite having attended Stanford!

  2. Hey Doc, Augusta has two Reyes' in their rotation. Mark pitched last night, the lefty out of JC ball drafted last year. He's holding his own so far... pretty hittable, but he's limiting runs, getting grounders and not walking anyone (3 in 30 IP).

Not sure if you saw the tweets from David Lee the other night, but Jose Reyes, the Augusta righty, is throwing 92-95 now to the tune of a 0.43 ERA out of the gate. Someone to keep an eye on...

    1. I corrected the first name. I knew it was Mark, the LHP, but sometimes force of habit takes over when you are typing away.

  3. Sacto will be debuting their newest player tonight, Hunter Pence.

Any scouting reports on the guy? Does he have a chance of breaking the Major League club sometime this year?

    1. Apparently has a lot of moving parts in the batter box, not very fundamentally sound. He throws like he's a transformer but gets the job done. Potential 5 tool player maybe?

  4. Who was the last reliever who dominated PCL like Okert? It is supposed to be a hard league to pitch.

    1. Hard to find a comp for Okert. Romo only pitched a total of 6 innings in AAA over 2 seasons. Brian Wilson made 29 appearances for the Fresno Grizzlies and had almost as many walks as K's. It's always better to well at a level than not, but I would be cautious about projecting AAA numbers even for pitchers. Scouting reports and stuff probably are more important. All reports on Okert seem to be positive though. If there is one flaw to point out, it's that maybe his is still issuing a few more walks than ideal.

  5. I mentioned here awhile ago to keep an eye on Brennan Metzger. He'll break out if he gets half the chance. Luckily he's with an organization that recognizes non-bonus boy talent, gives those players their shots, and promotes them when they earn it.

Most importantly, he's a Dirtbag, and plays like one. :)
