Game Wrap 4/27/2015: Dodgers 8 Giants 3

This time the Dodgers bullpen really did shut down the Giants while the Giants bullpen allowed the Dodgers to turn a close game into a route.  Key Lines:

Norichika Aoki- 2 for 5, SB(6).  BA= .309.  Aoki bounces back from an off game to lead the offense again.

Tim Lincecum- 4 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 3.27.  Timmy gave up a 4 spot in the third inning and was out of the game after 4.  49 of the 76 pitches he threw were strikes.  He threw just 15 balls to the 20 batters he did not walk.  3 of the 5 hits he gave up in the 3'rd inning were groundball singles.  There seemed to be some bad luck involved in this one for Timmy.

Bullpen- 4 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 0 K.   It might not have made any difference because the Dodgers bullpen shut the Giants down, but in this one the Giants bullpen turned a 4-3 deficit into a route at he end.

The Loss dropped the Giants to 4.5 games behind the NL West leading Dodgers.

Madison Bumgarner and Clayton Kershaw face off for the second time within a week tomorrow evening.

  1. I just don't know what to say... Right now I really feel like all the bandaids & hopes this pitching staff was put together with have all expired at once and we can only hope, at this point, that Cain comes back as the Cain of old and Heston keeps playing like he belongs in the big leagues. Otherwise cracking .500 in this division is going to be mighty hard.

But we shall see. We shall see.

OTOH, Bleacher Report reports that Pence is one week away from batting practice. It'd be nice to get him on the field. Have something positive.

  2. Yeah, bottom of the 3rd inning. Dodgers practically running up to the plate. "Throw it, just throw it!"

Tim has pitched relatively well this year, but I couldn't really buy it. The Giants need Tim now, but I don't think he can do it anymore. He can't locate that fastball well enough. And at 88, he's gotta be able to locate. Otherwise, his slider and change get destroyed. Not enough weapons in Tim's arsenal any more.

Considering the sad state of our starting pitching, Giants are fortunate to be 8-12 at this point.

Cain? Thought he was money in the bank. The longer he doesn't throw, the more worrisome that becomes...
