The Giants edged the Dodgers 3-2 in 10 innings today. Some key lines:
Aaron Rowand- 1 for 2, BB. Still getting on base. Hope he keeps this up in the regular season.
Roger Kieschnick- 1 for 1. Pinch runner Peguero scored the winning run after Roger's single in the 10'th. Kieshnick also made a big league throw from RF to nail Belliard trying to score from 2B on a single.
Fred Lewis- 0 for 4. Fred Lewis probably needs a huge spring to stick as a reserve OF. This isn't getting it done!
Barry Zito- 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K. Decent outing.
Todd Wellemeyer- 3 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K. Wellemeyer did not hurt himself with this outing. Since I believe the #5 starter role is his to lose, he got closer to that goal.
Guillermo Mota- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. A big step toward a bullpen job.
Henry Sosa- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K's. Won't win a MLB job, nor should he, but a healthy, effective Henry Sosa would be a big boost to the farm system.
Elsewhere around the league:
Aroldis Chapman made his spring debut today a success for Cincinnati- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. One radar gun had him hitting 100 MPH in the 4'th inning, his second inning of work. The Reds gun had him maxed at 99 MPH.
Yesterday, Hisanori Takahashi, the lefthanded screwball specialist had a most impressive debut for the Mets- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K's!
